Outlook 365 cannot open .ost file and fails to open

$

I use Outlook to fetch mail from my Gmail account and from a Exchange-based account for avillager.org (email service provided through my retirement community).  For a few weeks I have had an issue with Outlook not automatically fetching new emails. I discovered that if I clicked on the Drafts folder and then back on the Inbox the mail would arrive.  Three days ago I encountered a different problem: When I clicked on the icon I saw a popup message that the avillager.org.ost file could not be opened.  I followed instruction from Microsoft Support website, deleted that .ost file, restarted the computer and then was able to open Outlook.  However, when I attempted to send an email the program froze and eventually I had to close it manually. Upon restart, I received the same message about not opening the .ost file.  I have run Repair routines with ScanPST.exe, saw indications of repair needed, and followed through successfully, I thought.  But the problem persists.  Microsoft Personal Support referred me to Professional Support, but assistance was not available since I was a user of the avillager.org account and not listed as an admin.  Management of this avillager service is contracted out so I have no access, it seems, to informed assistance.

I should greatly appreciate advice about how to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.  Is it time to bailout - maybe create a new Profile or opt for a different email client?

I keep getting the error message "Cannot open the item for this reminder. The end date you entered occurs before the start date" The item doesn't even exist. How can I delete it.

Exchange 2007 2013 coexistence - On fast networks connect using HTTP first

Hi

We are planning to migrate to 365 and we had Exchange 2007. I installed Exchange 2013 to be able to migrate. Everything seem to work fine. But I'm not sure if I need to force my Outlook clients to use RPC/HTTP. All the mbx are in Exchange 2007. When I check the option "On fast networks connect using HTTP first" the proxy works fine through Exchange 2013. But it gets unchecked when Autodiscover runs.

As far as I know, the "Outlookproviderflags" were implemented first in Exchange 2010. So do I need to force RPC/HTTP? if that's so, how? Will Outlook detect that the mailbox is migrated even though I'm using RPC/TCP?

Hi,

I recently just received users that feedback that their mailtips in outlook 2010 had the error "Mailtips could not be retrieved".  I had checked that mailtips is owa is working fine except for outlook 2010 clients.  I had also verified the mailtips is enabled on the exchange 2013 server by running "Get-OrganizationConfig | fl mailtip*".

I had enabled the outlook client logging and below is the result:

Cannot set up Profile with Office 2013 and Microsoft Exchange Account

$

I have a Windows 10 PC that we want to distribute to someone in our company. We did a clean format on it, reinstalled Office 2013, and got all of the Updates. Note, this pc is joined to a domain. When I attempt to set up the profile for the user, I get "the server you are connected to is using a security certificate that cannot be verified". I tell it to continue anyway, and it comes back and rejects my user and password. I know the credentials are correct because I can log in to the Outlook web portal and access the account. I've even performed another clean install of Windows and Office, and still get the same problem. This is the only occurence that this has happened to us. Normally, we enter the person's name, their user and password, and it builds the profile. It will usually ask for the password after, but always accepts it.

I have tried numerous steps suggested from the search results, and I thought I had found a resolution when I manually configured the account using outlook.office365.com as the server. When I brought outlook up after that, it connected and downloaded the email. After I closed outlook, and brought it back up, it would connect to the server but not sync emails.

Can anyone please suggest how to correct this issue?

All of a sudden the setting "Delete invitations and responses that have been updated" is enabled in all users OWA Calendar settings.

Had a few users mentioned they noticed that some outlook meeting invites have been going straight to their delete items in outlook, specifically when someone say updates the notes. Same thing happening to me and co-workers. Come to discover that so far the users having this issue (including myself), there is a setting in our OWA calendar settings that is checked. The setting is "Delete invitations and responses that have been updated" - This was NEVER checked for our users, especially recently. This has to be some error/issue that Microsoft did. What can be done on a global scale in the meantime? (I opened a ticket with Microsoft already)

New Mail Notification (Envelope icon in taskbar) does not go away

$

I have Office 2013 on Windows 7 and have noticed the following behavior in Outlook:
- New mail arrives in my Inbox
- Envelope icon appears on the Outlook icon in the taskbar
I now read the email on another device
- The email is automatically marked as read on the first machine
- The envelope icon persists in the taskbar
The only way to get rid of the icon is to either toggle a mail from read to unread and back to read or if I get another email and read it on the machine that has the icon

This behavior causes a lot of false positives when reading emails on two machines.

Note: I raised this issue on the MS community forums and they were able to reproduce it. I have added the link below. I am posting it here based on feedback I received there.

Exch. Online - HP netw Scanner - Email rejected

Good day,
Since last Monday (22 APR) our two network scanners (HP digital send 9200C) cannot "Scan to E-mail"

We re using Exchange Online - Office 365.
I have used different static IPs in scanner.
Mail accounts used in scanner are crosschecked and credentials are OK.
In scanner config i use 'smtp.office365' and port 587
When testing connectivity through scanner, SMTP is valid.
Upon scanning process, i receive E-mail gateway rejected the job - and error executing digital send job.

Following the packet through my firewall (wg xtm 330) i can see that it passes successfully (allowed) but resolving in two IPs 40.101.69.34 and 40.101.54.162

Any recommendations are much appreciated.

Email Response Time Tracking

Hello good afternoon everyone.

I am told that we need to start tracking our customer email response time from the customer service emails into our shared Outlook mailbox which is maintained by three membes of staff.

I do not think we can do this with any the add-ins from Outlook and none of my IT colleagues in our Global Group currently appear to have this setup.  I have found some free software on the net but none so far that fits the bill.  Does Microsoft partner any software houses producing software of this nature either free add-ons or reasonably priced, about which someone could advise me please?

We use Exchange through O365 with E3 licences, our mail is synchronized with our Active Directory which is also synchronised through our European Group FM servers

Many thanks

Kind regards, Nickowiz

How do I connect and upload the information from my Outlook 2010 email and calendar to an Office 365 account?

We are using flags in a Shared mailbox but the DUE BY column always says None instead of the actual due date.  We clearly have flags and due dates set (some screen shots below).  Please help, thanks.

Not sure if this makes a difference, but this is in a shared mailbox. Exchange 2013.  Outlook Microsoft Office ProPlus Version 1808.

Well that's annoying, I tried to post images but got this error so will remove images and try again "Body text cannot contain images or links until we are able to verify your account."

Good day

Trust you all are well,

I have a client that has this "sync issues" folder that keeps filling with sync errors regarding random folders in inbox/sent items/deleted items and so on.

The Exchange account seems to be working fine.

Cant seem to figure out why her mailbox is the only one doing this.

FYI: She recently got a new computer (she got the same sync issues on the old computer) and the Exchange account has been setup fresh and nothing is importing into the account its a standard setup.

Thanks in advance

Hello. We have Exchange 2013. It works more than 2 years without major problem. Two days ago we have faced a strange situation. We have migrated exchange server to another server and after migration exchange services did not started. we have tried start them manually and after starting services outlook through web browser works fine, but MS Outlook 2013 or 2016 application keeps asking password, even if we input true password it still does not take any effect and still keeps asking password.
connection with AD is ok. no network problems. do someone faced problem like this? I don't know where is outlook connection logs. I tried reboot exchange couple of times and still no effect. Any suggestions?

Allow some user to create forwarding rules via Outlook client or OWA, while disabling automatic forwarding at the domain level in Exchange 2013/Exchange Online Hybrid

$

Hello Experts,

I have Exchange 2013 in a full hybrid env with Office 365/ Exchange Online. the user's mailbox has been migrated to Exchange Online. at the remote domain level (*) we disabled 'Allow automatic forwarding'. This was done to block users from forwarding company emails to external email addresses. However, a few users leverage third party tools to forward emails with specific subject headings to a third party for project management...etc. Because of the domain policy we have set, their forwarding rules are not working that they have created via Outlook client or OWA.

Is it possible to allow forwarding rules creation for a few users while its disabled at the remote domain level? I've tried to create a mail contact and stamp the mail contact with the external email address so it displays in the GAL, but no luck. the only thing that seems to work is if in the Exchange Admin Center, the entire mailbox is forward to the mail contact...which obviously is undesired as the forwarding needs to be done based on specific subject words.

Please let me know if this is possible...Thanks in advance.

Email prints with different time

I have 2 employees (userA and userB) and 1 pst file called “old.pst” that copied on their PC’s so they both could go through emails to see if they should keep/delete/print them.

UserA finds an email that she wants to print and when she prints it, it has thecorrect time/date that email shows in Outlook2013.  UserB finds the same email in Outlook2013 and prints it off but has a differenttime than userA has when it is printed.

How do I resolved this issue with the different time?

Outlook - Envelope icon doesn't disappear

$

Hi,
I've enabled the Envelope Icon in the system tray for new mails (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292034/en-us).

If a new mail arrives and I open Outlook 2013, read the mail, the envelope doesn't disappear, even if there aren't any unread messages.
The only temporary solution is to right-click any Outlook folder with all read mail and then selectMark All as Read in the context menu (mentioned here: http://superuser.com/questions/335122/why-does-the-outlook-taskbar-envelope-icon-sometimes-remain-active-even-if-i-ha)

We are using Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2010 SP3.

Why isn't the envelope hiding automatically, after I read all mails? This doesn't happen always, but most the times.

Thanks
