Can I have 2 Microsoft Exchange Accounts open at once in Outlook 2010/13 when connected to a domain

Hi, we are migrating our emails from our onsite SBS2008 (exchange 2007) to hosted exchange mailboxes.

I'm in the process of transferring our domain name into Fasthosts (UK domain/mail/cloud provider), once this is done I will create new exchange mailboxes with them.  Currently the MX & A records for the domain name point to our sbs, when fasthosts take control and I create the new mailboxes these MX & A records will change to the new fasthosts ones and will stop pointing mail to the old sbs2008 exchange.

My question is when the new hosted mailboxes are created, can I just log on to the domain as a normal user on a client PC and open outlook as normal, this will connect to the current sbs2008 exchange 2007 mailbox, then use the "add new email account" wizard in FILE->ACCOUNT SETTINGS->[Email] NEW to add another exchange email account.  Hopefully the autodiscover settings work and it configures automatically.  Can I have both exchange mailboxes open in outlook? this way no incoming emails will be lost while the new MX settings propagate and will either fall into the old or new mailbox.  Once emails stop coming to the old sbs2008 mailbox can I just select batches of emails, right click then select move into the new hosted inbox in outlook?

If all this goes to plan, would you recommend trying to uninstall or stop the exchange service on the server or just remove the old exchange account in outlook by selecting remove in  FILE->ACCOUNT SETTINGS->[Email].  The old email address will be the same as the new ones.

Apologies for all the questions but I'm a bit nervous about this move to hosted exchange.

Thanks

Exchange 2013 - Outlook 2010 Cached mode - Error 0x8004011C and 0x80040115

Hello all,

Following problem: Exchange server 2013 installed on an windows Server 2012. Client connecting with Outlook 2007 and 2010. All users using cached mode because they are out of the office a lot of time. The problem we have is if the user is on the road , sending an recieving mail is not a problem. While they are in the office the outlook client updates the folders and says "Online". When the user sends a message the message is stuck in the outbox. When clicking on send and recive we got an eror "unknow error 0x8004011C" and while transmitting error 0x80040115 for this action the exchange server should be online... but the server is online because the folders are beeing updated. Looking into autodiscovery and so all url's are correct.

Anyone having a tip ?

many thanks

Chris

Outlook Not Connecting For Single user - ost error

I have a single user who cannot connect Outlook to their Exchange mailbox.

The error is “Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window.  The set of folders cannot be opened. The “local ost file” is not an outlook data file (ost).

We are running Exchange 2013 (not 365), with Office 2010, Office 2013 and Office 2016.  The user can use OWA fine.  No other users are affected.  I have tried moving mailbox to another db, running a mailbox repair in PowerShell (New-MailboxRepairRequest -Mailbox ******* -CorruptionType SearchFolder, AggregateCounts, ProvisionedFolder, FolderView) I have tried a number of different workstations and versions of office, tried editing workstation registry with manual entry for the Global catalog server, ran managedfolderassistant on the mailbox, checked C:\drive space on both exchange servers, etc.  Nothing is working, please help, as I am out of ideas, short of deleting the user from Exchange/AD and importing a mailbox backup into a new user account/mailbox of the same name.  Thanks in advance for any help on this.

"Ghosts" of removed Auto-Mapped mailboxes remain in Outlook client.

**Moved here on advice given on answers.microsoft.com**

I'll start by stating that I've Googled and trawled TechNet on this issue to very little result.

The issue I'm experiencing is that users in my business who've had a mailbox AutoMapped to their client and then later removed always have a vestige, "ghost" entry in their Outlook client for that Mailbox. The user can neither open or interact with the mailbox in any way but it stays there nonetheless, I've tried reinstalling Office 2016, deleting users Profiles and pst/osts to no effect.

I've tried removing mailboxes via Powershell using :

"Remove-MailboxPermission-Identity<Mailbox 1>-User<Mailbox 2>-AccessRightsFullAccess"

As well as simply via the Office365/Exchange365 Admin panel.

We don't want to disable Automapping as our business relies heavily on the sharing and access of colleagues mailboxes on a regular basis and due to the Outlook "500 folders" issue staff aren't able to have constant access or their Outlook clients fail multiple times daily. Some of our users have over 500 folders on their own, we deal with a lot of clients and products so sorting communications via folders is how most staff operate. Automapping makes the task of me or my colleague adding mailboxes for users regularly and awful lot easier.

I appreciate that this isn't really a major issue but it exacerbates already irate users whos Outlook clients are failing on an almost daily basis due to having more than 500 Folders.Any help would be greatly appreciated, some of my staff have a dozen of these in the Outlook clients.

Connection to the backend server failed. Error: (0x80072ef1). OWA with Claim through WAP and ADFS

We are seeing this error when connecting to OWA (Exchange 2013 SP1 with Claims Based Auth enabled) through Windows Server 2012 WAP configured for ADFS (v3.) Now I have seen this discussion on WAP (Here) articles and they seem to lay the blame the OWA server, which is why I am posting here.

The user sees this error: "This method or property is not supported after HttpRequest.Form, Files, InputStream, or BinaryRead has been invoked." which goes away after the browser is refreshed. This is an intermittent issue.

WAP reports this error:

Connection to the backend server failed. Error: (0x80072ef1).

timezone calc for Chile

I'm having difficulties setting conferences from ESt US with Chile because it makes an incorrect changes of  time.

For example  at this moment Chile have the same time as EST , however if I set up a conference for 10:00 am EST it will  send the invitation to Chile for 12:00 , which is incorrect.

This is happening for wuit some time, and it is the only region that present problems. Timezone change works without problem with Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, etc.

Exchange 2013 OWA blank page, ECP works

I'm running Exchange 2013 on Windows Server 2012 R2 server.

Today exchange decided to show a blank page after login to owa. ECP works ok.

OWA does work with Internet Explorer but not with Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Ecp works with all tested browsers.

Checked certificates bindings on "Default Web Site" and "Exchange Back End", all ok. Recycled MSExchangeOWAAppPool and removed OWA virtualdirectory and recreated it again. Server rebooted after every change. Still OWA shows a blank page. Eventlogs do not show any obvious errors why things should not work.

I'm stumped. Anyone got any ideas what to try?

Weird Outlook Autodiscover issues

Going bald on this one.

- Windows Server 2012 R2
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 SP1 CU12
- Outlook 2007/2010/2013/2016
- Behind a Cisco Firewall

Our set-up is 2 Domain controllers and 2 Exchange 2013 servers.

While I'm on a PC outside of the network that is not joined to my company domain, I try and create a new outlook profile and set up my mail account in Outlook. I get the error "The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list" when trying to autodiscover the settings. This is affecting all users.

I've looked at most of the obvious stuff:

- Exchange Remote Connectivity Analyzer and Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer Tool finds no issues
- "Hide name from address list" option is unchecked in ECP
- DC's are in sync
- The Global Address List appears to be fully populated
- In the "Attribute Editor" section of the user account in Active Directory, the "showInAddressBook" attribute looks correct and lists the default global address list
- I deleted the entire %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Outlook folder and deleted all profiles, and cached credentials on the client. I also tried it on several different PCs, none of them worked. Account that were already set-up continue to work.

This USED to work, about a couple of months ago when I set up the servers I was able to connect fine. Something changed between then and now. Any idea this might be?

For some reason a Windows 7 machine with Office 2013, without the most recent patches works

Multiple user access to OWA shared mailbox Users changes to mail items are reverted intermittently.

We have a shared mailbox that multiple users access via OWA. The problem is that these users changes are intermittently overwritten.

For Example:

User A: accesses the mailbox and reads 10 of the emails or marks them as read.  Intermittently these changes are reverted back.

Environment: shared mbx and user are on 2010 servers and proxy from 2013 OWA site to 2010 site.

Any Thoughts

Outlook 2010 can connect but 2013 cannot

A customer has an Exchange 2013 SP1 server and a number of Office 2010 and 2013 users. Last week Outlook 2013 began throwing errors when the computers were connected to the LAN. Outlook 2010 can connect to Exchange when the computer is on the LAN or remote. Outlook 2013 can connect to Exchange when remote but not when on the LAN. Error is "Cant open folder"

Have done basic troubleshooting and everything seems to be configured correctly. Customer tells me that nothing has changed recently.

Need assistance diagnosing this further.

Thanks.

Office 2016 Shared mailboxes using PC credentials rather than outlook credentials

$

Hi. I was wondering whether anyone else has come across this issue.

I have a customer with an Exchange 2013 enviornment on premise. my customer also uses a mixture of Office 2013 and office 2016 as part of Office365 ClickToRun.

I've noticed an issue whereby the following happens

user has outlook 2016 configure with their primary email account

User has a shared mailbox added. the user has full access granted to the mailbox through Exchange.

When attempting to expand the shared mailbox, outlook freezes for around 1 minute before an error that access is denied appears.

when this happens, a security failure event is logged on the exchange server.

This is where the problem is that I've found.

on a domain joined PC, it works fine. on a non-domain joined PC, outlook seems to be sending the windows account credentials rather than the Outlook credentials which is causing the authentication failure. I can't find a setting anywhere to use the outlook credentials for the shared mailbox.

On Office 2013, this works fine- the outlook (correct) credentials are sent through to exchange for authentication. on various PCs running office 2016, the Windows account credentials are sent through.

can anybody shed any light on this?

Thanks,

Dan

Issue with IMAP in Coexistence

$

We are currently in a coexistence scenario between Exchange 2010 SP3 RU 14 and Exchange 2013 CU 11. What I have seen is that when we point to our new 2013 IMAP namespace on 993 or 143 the users whose mailboxes have been migrated to 2013 can login as expected. However, when a user whose mailbox is still on 2010 attempts to login via the 2013 namespace they receive a “a1 NO LOGIN failed.” Error. I have tested this by going directly to one of the servers and the same error persists. If anyone has any ideas it would be much appreciated.

USER UNABLE TO CREATE OUTLOOK PROFILE IN PC WHEN USING EXCHANGE

I have an issue where users are unable to take their outlook from one computer to another when connected to MS Exchange.    When creating the new profile on a second computer, click on Outlook goes into the Outlook Setup, on the 3rd Window where it should request CAC credentials it either will not detect the CAC or it will show the credentials but not request a PIN and goes not further. The only fix I've found to date is to reinstall MS Office.
