Outlook 2007 on Windows 7 cant download OAB after upgrade to Exchange 2010

Hello, im having a wierd problem, I cant download the Outlook Address Book from my new Exchange 2010 server, but only from clients with Windows 7, xp machines work fine

Just to give you some background.  We recently went from sbs 2003 to exchange 2010.  Its a brand new domain so in a way its basically a new setup as far as the clients are concerened.

Everything was working the first couple of days, but then the client wants the owa in outlook web access to be removed from the address.  So we setup redirection and that worked fine.  But it stoped all the clients from accessing the OAB.  Found a whole bunch of things on the web about it and the redirection definitly messed things up.  The main thing was the web.config file didnt have the right permissions.  Authenticated users needed read execute. I even tried addind the everyone group with full control the OAB folder

But in the end only the Windows XP clients could download the address book.  My windows 7 clients can not.  It either just sits there forever or gets to about 10% and sits there forever

All PC's are running Outlook 2007, i believe i have them all with the latest office service pack.

I ended up Removing the OAB Virtual directory in IIS as per Microsofts instructions, but same result, only my xp machines can download the address book.

At this point im not sure what the problem is anymore and i was hoping someone has come across this already

I still have some steps to try, next im going to try turning off the firewall and unisntal AV from the client to see if that helps.

Autodiscovery seems to be working fine.  I did the test in outlook where you ctrl + right click in outlook to run the outlook connectivity test and that ran fine.  I can take the oab address from that and put it in a browser and can access it, granted im not sure what its suppose to look like, but im not getting access denied like ive read in other articles

Thanks for any help

Mike

OWA: automatically open other user's mailbox

Hi,

since it's not possible to add shared email folders, or foreign mailboxes in Web App (just temporary in a separate window via the "open another mailbox.." link), is there any possibility to automatically open certain mailboxes, which a user has full access rights to, or shared mailboxes, each time when they login?

For users who need to work with some other users mailboxes regularily it's a real pain if they need to do all the steps over and over again each time they login.

Thank you!

Outlook - Envelope icon doesn't disappear

Hi,
I've enabled the Envelope Icon in the system tray for new mails (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292034/en-us).

If a new mail arrives and I open Outlook 2013, read the mail, the envelope doesn't disappear, even if there aren't any unread messages.
The only temporary solution is to right-click any Outlook folder with all read mail and then selectMark All as Read in the context menu (mentioned here: http://superuser.com/questions/335122/why-does-the-outlook-taskbar-envelope-icon-sometimes-remain-active-even-if-i-ha)

We are using Outlook 2013 with Exchange 2010 SP3.

Why isn't the envelope hiding automatically, after I read all mails? This doesn't happen always, but most the times.

Thanks

Sending Email's out as a company name?

Hi basically im on a domain network with a few other worker's, we all share the same domain "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***" we have are unique email's, and the company itself has a unique address which when an Email is sent to it, all of the employee's can see this; what im wanting do is send an email out as the "company" from a client account so instead of the email being sent from "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***" it will be sent from *** Email address is removed for privacy ***? sort of like a drop down menu to select a different user when your sending a new message?

This is on Windows 7 running office outlook 2003

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Community. By the description, I understand that you are want to send an e-mail from any user within but the recipients should receive as the e-mail sent from XYZ @company.com instead of User@company.com

However, as you are working with Outlook on an Exchange Server environment, for better assistance  post your query in the Exchange Server forum:

If you have any query and issues with Office suites and office related products, reply and we will be happy to assist you.

Shared Mailbox reminders disappear from users screen when somebody else snoozes/dismisses it.

We have created a new mailbox which is shared with a number of users.  The mailbox is added as a 2nd Exchange Account.  Within the Calendar of this mail box we can set up items with reminders.  When the reminder is activated it appears on everybodies screen which is what we want.  When 1 person snoozes or dismisses the reminder, it snoozes and dismisses on everybodies screen which is not what we want.  It should only snooze/dismiss for that specific person.  Any ideas?

Note at present it is shared using a group account rather than specific names, could this be the problem?

Categories automatically switching to other categories

Outlook 2007 sp3 with Exchange server 2007 on Windows 7 64bit.

One of our users has created a handful of categories which she uses on both emails in her inbox and subfolders thereof and in her calendar.  There's perhaps 10 or so categories, all using different colors.  Last Thursday she created a new one and ever since then, when she opens Outlook in the morning after having logged off or restarted, ALL of the categorized emails and calendar items are re-categorized as the new category.

For example, she'll have emails categorized as Personal, Work, Family, whatever.  In the morning they're all categorized as Drafts (the name of the new category she created).

Based on what I've learned, this makes no sense.  If she were somehow accidentally launching Outlook with /cleancategories, her list would be reset but that's not happening.   Her categories still exist and she can reapply them, but it just happens again the next morning.  If her changes weren't sticking I'd assume there's a problem with her roaming profile or mail profile.  She's been using them for a year or so and this only started happening after creating that new category.  So I don't believe it's a case of user error either.  It would take a lot of effort to accidentally change them all, I'd think.

I did find a few other questions very similar to mine but different enough that I still felt I should post my own.

Reminders in Outlook

The calendar was created in Outlook 2013. 3 users can view this calendar and add appointments. The shared calendar is located under the My Calendar tree which I am assuming is the Primary folder. I created a test appointment on the Outlook 2013 which is visible on the Outlook 2010 machine. The reminder pops on 2013, but not 2010. All three users are owners. Outlook is running. I have ran outlook /cleanreminders and outlook /resetfolders on the Outlook 2010 machine but no worky. Reminders are enabled in options on the Outlook 2010 machine. Any solutions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Dear All,

I have 3 exchange server 2010 SP2 rollup 6 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

I just upgraded from Exchange SP1 to SP2 few month ago.

After the upgraded - some users client, they're having issue with connection to exchange server.

I have head-office and 3 branch.

I noted that:

- All clients in head-office and branch-office running windows 7 with outlook 2010 SP1, all client able connect to exchange server 2010 without interrupt connection

- All clients in head-office and brand-office running Windows XP SP3 with outlook 2010 SP1. all client are having the connection with exchange problem. the connection is interim. mostly their outlook cannot connection to exchange with status "Trying to connect...".

My question is:

1. Is it Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 SP2 support client running Windows XP SP3 operating system?

2. dose it has any Hotfix to fix this issue?

3. How to fix it?

Noted: all my client is applied the last windows update.

Hello Everyone

I am trying to make a script where I can disable Imap and POP3 for all new users in our organization. I have tried to use this command to disable new mailboxes. We are currently using Exchange 2007 SP3

Get-CASMailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | where {$_.ImapEnabled -eq $True or $_.PopEnabled -eq $True} | Set-CASMailbox -ImapEnabled $False -PopEnabled $False

but is seems to not like the "or" in this command. What am i doing wrong? And also is there a way to make possible to make the script look at the current date and disable Imap and POP3 for anyone that was created before the current date, and ignore everyone who's Imap and POP3 has already been disabled?

Thanks for any help

The BITS service provided job credentials in response to the UNIDENTIFIED authentication challenge

I receive the following Windows 7 event log error every time that I either turn on or restart my computer and open Outlook 2013.

I am running Exchange 2010 on my server which is running SBS 2011.

The BITS service provided job credentials in response to the UNIDENTIFIED authentication challenge from the remote.xxxxxxxxx.com server for the Microsoft Outlook Offline Address Book 9a413502214705448473c1211a339e7b transfer job that is associated with the following URL: /OAB/72b5bfc4-efec-4564-aa98-23906d1a79d2/oab.xml.
The credentials for the S-1-5-21-1181636421-3260534386-1882037235-1164 user were rejected.

Does anyone know what this means and how to best resolve it?

Thanks

hi there,

is there anyway to check from Outlook 2007 or OWA 2007 that the email system administrator has enabled messaging records management (MRM) for the user's mailbox?

He's been complaining that his emails that are older than 90 days are being deleted. I've check his autoarchive settings but it is was not enabled. I couldn't find any .PST files on his PC too.

Help please!!

Thanks!!

Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)

Fresh installation of Exchange Server 2013 on Windows Server 2012.

Our first test account cannot access their email via Outlook but can access fine through OWA. The following message appears - "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize your folders with your Outlook data file (.ost)" is displayed.

If I turn off cached Exchange mode, setting the email account to not cache does not resolve the issue and i get a new error message - "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. The file (path\profile name).ost is not an Outlook data file (.ost). Very odd since it creates its own .ost file when you run it for the first time.

I cleared the appdata local Outlook folder and I tested on a new laptop that has never connected to Outlook, same error message on any system.

Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service is running.

No warning, error or critical messages in the eventlog, it's like the healthiest server alive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I haven't encountered this issue with previous versions of Exchange.
