in-place eDiscovery failing

Hi

Occasionally I have to run an in-place eDiscovery and copy the results to the discovery mailbox.

I have created an account used especially for this purpose.

Estimates succeed and I can preview the results

However it will not copy the results, it fails with:

The search has incorrect parameters. Please correct the error and retry. The message from the search server is 'Value cannot be null.  Parameter name: primarySmtpAddress'.

Have I missed something? Comparing the previous searches and reading all that I can I think I am doing it the same way as I have previously.

I am using Office 365 for an educational institution in the UK and running the searches through the ecp (not powershell).

Any help or suggestions would be welcome.

EAC and IMAP Issues after Exchange 2013 CU6

After deploying CU6 to Exchange servers there is no way to perform activities on Exchange Online (cosidering hybrid deployment). I noticed that there is a fix for it in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2997355 but it seems that it doesn’t do the trick. After installing CU6 file which is altered in the script cannot be found (RemoteDomains.xaml).

Also after installing CU6 I've noticed issue with IMAP and Thunderbird. It seems that commands like move are interpreted by the server as bad commands (error 12).

Did you encounter with any of those problems? Do you have/recommend any workaround or fix?

microsoft.exchange.addres process

using Outlook 2007 and exchange 2010, when choose addresslist the server do not response sometimes. By using some net tools, we find that the tcp connection to exchange server microsoft.exchange.addres process is lost. It will take 2-3 minutes to reset the connection. How long the server keeps the connection or how can I solve the problem?

Reset Outlook

I looked up how to reset my outlook because it messed up during setup. I went to my control panel and then typed in mail and clicked the outlook link and nothing happened. the busy circle comes up for about 3 seconds and goes away and nothing pops up. I have reset my computer and it still does the same thing.

Outlook 2010 / Exchange 2010 prevent double room booking

Hi,

I have a problem with double-booking of rooms in my company. I've read pretty much everything I could find on this subject and I'm still not satisfied. I setup a room in Exchange with these settings:

- Resource Booking Attendant: disabled

- Allow conflicting meetings: disabled

- Delegate of the mailbox: UserDelegate

- Users who are allowed to submit in-policy requests that will be automatically approved: Selected recipients (none)

- Users who are subject to approval by delegate (within in-policy): all users

- Users who are allowed to submit out-of-policy requests: selected recipients (none).

I believe this is supposed to work like this: everyone can request a meeting and every meeting request has to be accepted by a delegate (UserDelegate in this case). There are no conflicts allowed. 

However, it doesn't work that way. Let me give you an example of how it does work.

User1 requests a meeting in a MeetingRoom1. UserDelegate accepts the meeting, and everyone can see in MeetingRoom's calendar that the room is booked (permission set to default=reviewer). Then User2 requests a conflicting meeting at the same time and the same room. It is not automatically rejected and can still ask for approval. UserDelegate still receives a request and CAN agree to it - even if there is conflict. Sure, there is a notification of a conflict, but room can be double booked anyway.

Let's say UserDelegate sees the notification of a conflict and rejects the meeting. User2 get an email that says his meeting was rejected, but in his calendar the meeting is still on. It doesn't disappear. It leads to conflicts, when 2 users show up at the MeetingRoom1 and they both claim they booked the room - which is true, even though one of them was rejected. He didn't realize, since the meeting was still active in his calendar...

If I enable Resource Booking Attendant the User2 request would be denied automatically and the notification would be sent, but the meeting remains in the calendar. Besides, I don't want it to be enable, since it automatically agrees to all meetings if there is time and space for it. I have a UserDelegate who's supposed to decide who gets the room. 

I tried to EnableDirectBooking=1 in registry in Outlook, but it doesn't work. Users still can requests the meeting.

So, in short: I don't want users to be able to book an already booked room. Can you help me with that? I can provide screenshots and EMS if you need me to.

400 bad request when logging in to owa, exchange 2013

Hi All,

Got this error message after installing Exchange 2013 CU6 update.

ECP works fine from external and internal one, i only encounter this error for OWA.

I have tried to reinput OWA and EWA internal/external virtual directories but same issue.

Any ideas?

Dear All,

After deploying CU6 I cant access the ECP console or OWA, I receive the below error:

ECP error:

- Server Error in '/ecp' Application.

- Runtime Error:

Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.

OWA error:

errorFE.aspx?httpCode=500

 :( Something went wrong

Please advise.

OWA Public URL setup process

Hello Friends,

I am new to Exchange technology and Exchange 2010 environment. In our current environment we  are using OWA internally only and I have been asked to configure to external URL now. Our current environment is pretty simple, we have CAS and HUB on one server and 2 Mailbox servers with DAG configured. Our company do not have a public website and we are looking forward for one. Current AD domain ends with .local.

Can you please help with the information I need to collect to have my OWA running from internet?? Our current OWA runs as http://FQDN of CAS/owa. We are looking for something like https://ourcompanyname.com/owa.

What configuration I need to do on CAS end?

Do I need to register https://ourcompanyname.com/owa with local ISP and buy a public IP?

I understand i need to register my MX records also with ISP. Do I need any  changes at our local AD DNS server?

Our current internet facing router has a public IP to connect to internet.

Please help

"Something went wrong" screen after OWA login

I have multiple Exchange 2013/Windows 2012 DAGs that sit behind 2 CAS servers in a Windows NLB. My production DAG is fine, but my pre-release DAG is now getting this error, so I imagine something on the 2 DAG member servers is causing it.  I think something changed in IIS by accident by one of my admins, but I've been unable to find out who or what it was.  Troubleshooting is hitting a wall too.

The ECP and OWA to mailboxes on my other DAG work fine.  I have legacy redirection enabled to my Exchange 2007 environment too, and when somebody logs into OWA via my 2013 CAS servers, that redirects them fine as well.  EAS, RCP over HTTPS, and autodiscover all appear fine to the problem DAG. Testing email autoconfiguration works fine to my problem DAG as well, so it appears to be OWA related.

The symptoms:

  • After logging into OWA on mailboxes in the effected DAG, a "something went wrong" screen appears.

An unexpected error occurred and your request couldn't be handled.

  • No information appears in the windows logs.  Searching the HTTPERR logs also showed nothing.  W3SVC logs show the following events.  Are these 302 errors?

  • It appears that while the ECP is working fine, it has problems getting information from the DAG. For instance, on the database tab in servers management, the "active on server" doesn't change even when failing the database back and forth. 

All cluster resources are up. All agents appear fine.  The OWA app pool is started and appears the same as the OWA app pool on my working DAG.

I've already tried the killbit fix.  There was no killbit on my CAS servers, but one existed on the DAG mailbox servers.  I deleted them out of one DAG member, failed everything over to there, and tried OWA.  It still didn't work.

set different authentication mode for OWA

hi

how can I set OWA Authentication setting for set two mode:

1. Form-Based Authentication for External Users

2. Integrated Authentication for internal (domain) Users

I want to set this setting in One server; I know the setting in ECP in Virtual Directory setting and in OWA in Authentication setting; but I try it in two server and in one server I don't know how can I set this setting.

when you select Form-Based you can not set integrated authentication in one server, you can set that in other server for your exchange organization.

Mailbox remove process -> added calendar

Hi there,

We have a customer with a high flutuation of employees.
The employee had a lot of additional calender and mailboxes attached.
The mailboxes himself will be deleted after few months. Due compliance policys.

If we delete the user accounts but not the mailboxes himself, the outlook clients with the additional calendars and mailboxes will be freezed. Because they can't opened the mailboxes / calendar.

Is there a standard process for this scenario? Or a process / script for checking the whole domain for removing calendars / mailboxes from the users?

I have a user that continues to get the error above when she tries to send an email from a shared mailbox, where she has been granted send as + full mailbox rights. I have tried to resolve the issue by re-creating the .ost file. However this only works for about 2 weeks and the error comes back. I have also deleted the OAB & cleared cache, however this only works for about 2 weeks before the issue re-appears. Has anyone out there experienced this before? Can anyone think of a solution to my problem?

In Exchange 2007 and 2010 there was a feature called Direct File Access that allowed a user to access data files on a file server through Outlook Web Access. Is that feature available in Exchange 2013?

Ctrl-K check names not work working

I am running an Outlook 2013 client against a Ex2010 server. 

One really annoying thing, is that the Check Names  (Ctrl+K) keyboard shortcut is not working. If I manually click the icon it works. Any idea of why this is not Working?

Hi guy's

Still have problem with : 

Secretary manage 3 calender (full permissions).  when she make a change to a meeting and sends the update to the recipients, they get the new meeting request and it updates on their calendar with the correct time and date. Then for a brief time or past  day the senders calendar will show the change then disappear and the original time and date pop back up again on all users get the meeting.

Also with she make a meeting to one of member, and on member calender she moved the meeting to top. just the member know what have in this day (the member dont participate) the meeting back to original hour. before exchange 2013 its worked fine.

Time zone on all pc's same, date/hour correctly.

Issue 2, secretary maked meeting some days before dayligth off, on outlook calender show the correct time, but on iphone or androide o.s, show one hour before.

Issue 3, secretary make new meeting send to membre she had full permission, when she send they not receive the meeting.

Ps: all calender members shared and all on outlook secretary. she had about 4 ou 7 calender's she manage.

any help will be welcome

Remove Netbios Name in Exchange Server 2013 Password Change Page

Hi,

I have multi-tenant environment in my exchange server 2013. The problem is that when every user want to change password, default NetBIOS name of Exchange Server appears and greyed on the page.

Domain\user name:

I need to show domain of every user in the Domain\ field

Is there any solution?

Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Some Outlook clients getting internal FQDN of newly installed Exchange 2013 CAS server as Outlook Anywhere Proxy address

Hello Folks,

I have this problem and is making me crazy if anyone have any idea please shed some light on this:-

1. Working Outlook 2010 and 2013 clients with webmail.xyz.com as Outlook Anywhere proxy address.

2. Installed new Exchange 2013 server (server02)with CAS and Mailbox role, Exchange install wizard finished and server is rebooted.

3. Server came up online started changing internal and external FQDN's of Virtual Directories and Outlook Anywhere to webmail.xyz.com

4. As soon as Fqdn's changed some outlook clients create support request that Outlook suddenly white's out and after reopening it is giving error  cannot connect to exchange. upon checking Clients Exchange Proxy address is set to http://server02.xyz.com, even though OA/OWA/ECP/OAB/EWS/Autodiscover/ActiveSync FQDN's Point to webmail.xyz.com, on all servers if i create new outlook profile for same user it picks up correct settings through autodiscover and connects fine, this is happening to about 20% of outlook clients every time i am introducing new Exchange 2013 server in Organization. we have around 2000 users and planning on installing 4 exchange servers to distribute load and everytime changing outlook profile of close to 150-200 users is not possible.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
