OWA 2013 Apps in shared mailbox

$

0

Exchange 2013 SP1: Whenever I open my own mailbox in OWA (2013), I can see the 'Apps Bar' at the top of the email (such as Bing maps, Action Items etc) - but when I (or anyone else in the org) goes to 'Open another mailbox' that they have full access permissions to, this App bar disappears as soon as the other mailbox loads. This causes an issue for us as one of the apps is Symantec Enterprise Vault. The same thing appears to happen in the full Outlook 2013 client as well.

Is there any way to make the App Bar appear when opening another mailbox?

Thanks in advance.

Emails open in OWA Light, but not OWA Full

So, this is an odd problem I'm hoping someone has seen before. I'm trying to troubleshoot a machine (this only happens on one PC) because when a user (and it doesn't matter which user) logs into OWA Full (tried with IE 11 and Chrome) they can see all of their emails, but cannot click on them or open them. If the user logs into OWA Light (IE 11 and Chrome) they can open emails and function normally.  Everything works fine in both browsers (again, IE 11 and Chrome) on all other PCs.

Any thoughts on this?  If this is the wrong forum I apologize, I'm not 100% certain which version of Exchange they are running as I am a contractor that only maintains a few specific PC's and servers.

Older emails, 24 hours or more, will not open. I can click on them, then hit forward, and they appear. However, when I send them to myself, they again will not open.

Outlook.com was not able to complete this request. Microsoft may contact you about any issues you report.

This comes up when I click on my emails older than 24 hours. However, if I select the email to forward it, it appears. However, if I resend it to myself, it again, will not open.

Any thoughts, suggestions, or cures will be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much in advance!

Rules being lost in SBS 2011 (?) and Outlook 2013

$

Hi, Got  a query on this. I have quite a few rules set up on Outlook 2013  using our exchange system. Usually they work fine. Recently though some of them keep disappearing which is annoying. Some are local machine based and some are server based.

One particular rule does the following. A monitor sends me an email saying a system is down, when it arrives in my inbox a rule forwards a copy to two colleagues. For months this has worked fine, then all of a sudden it has stopped.

Two things happen, one is that this rule ( and similar ones) disappears from my rules list, it's hard to say when as you don't really notice when something stops working, you just wonder ones day why your colleagues are not dealing with things that go wrong whilst you are out of the office.

The other thing I've noticed is that some rules sometimes (this redirect on receipt) get the check box for it turned off, also the rule is then in RED text. I do sometimes note an error/warning message about this rule too, but its been a while so I can't remember exactly what this is.

Does anyone know why rules get turned off /deleted / set to RED text?

I've gone through some investigation and found that sometimes you can have too many rules and it is possible to amend settings so that ther is more space but I'm still looking for instruction on this (it's vague though I have done this before a loooong time ago)

I know default space is 64kb and you can up it to 256kb, but I lack instructions for this, other causes apart from too many rules have been recorded as having rules with long names, but how long is long?

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, McP

Shared Outlook Calendar - help!

Hi.

I have a shared outlook calendar in outlook 2010.  I'd like to allow a small group of people read/write access, then a larger group to have read only access, and couldn't figure out how to set that up.  I was able to grant the read/write access to the smaller group, but then the larger group couldn't see the details of the meetings ect.

Is there a way to do this?

Thank you.

Exchange Auto Mapping

$

0

We run Exchange 2010 SP3 on prem (with Outlook 2010 and 2013), we have started experiencing auto mapping problems since we applied Rollup 6. It is affecting an increasing number of clients as well.

The main issue is that some users who had previous access to Shared Mailboxes working just fine have now "lost" access to the shared account folders. Outlook simply displays the client's personal folder structure instead of the folders belonging to the Shared mailbox. Properties of the Shared account Inbox actually point to the person's email address, not the shared mailbox one.

All attempts at remedying the situation failed, including recreating the profile, setting up on a new computer, cache vs non-cache mode. Even giving access to the Sahred mailbox to a new user will result with the same problem. The auto mapping attributes (msExchDelegateListLink and msExchDelegateListBL) check out fine as well. At a loss with this one. Note that the shared accounts are fine, accessing them via OWA for instance works just fine.

Finally, I noticed that auto mapping for our Outlook 2013 clients has stopped working altogether. Can this be related?

Hi,

We are currently using office 365 with outlook 2013 and have setup a GPO for users to cache 12 months worth of emails.

This is working fine but we noticing it does not give users the option to view items older the 12months like the message below.

Anyone know what setting would cause this in Outlook.

There are more items in this folder on the server

Exchange 2010- Global Address List

 Hello,

I've created an automatic on-line room booking using outlook. I've also set-up external users with a limited user account which has access to Outlook Web Access to allow them to log in and book the meeting rooms. I have also changed some permissions which I was hoping will limit the external users access to the Global Address List, by doing so the external users now can't access the rooms list. Is there a way to restrict the access to the Global Address List without restricting the access to the room list for our external users?

Thank you, Cyan Petals

Exchange 2013 with Outlook on RDS Server is extremely slow

Exchange 2013 CU5 on Server 2012 R2 fresh install/new to domain; Outlook 2010 or 2013 on Remote Desktop server not in cached mode is slow to open, search and send messages with attachments.  Opening messages and opening attachments runs quickly.

My test mailbox has 300kb worth of mail in it and sending a message with a 5Mb attachment locks up Outlook for close to 1 minute and takes another 30 to 90 seconds to disappear from the outbox and and move to sent items.  This issue does not present itself in OWA.  My current testing RDS environment is a fresh install of Server 2008 R2 with Outlook 2013.  No additional add-ins or AV running on the Exchange server or the test RDS server.

When cached mode is enabled, Outlook runs better as shown in Outlook 2010 (+ Exchange 2013) works extremely slow; however, I don't consider this an option because there isn't enough drive space on the RDS server to cache all of the user profiles.

Other Exchange environments - Outlook 2010 or 2013 in an RDS environment (non-cached) with Exchange 2007 or 2010 - don't show the same performance issues.  Moving within Outlook and sending large attachments runs quickly.

I have checked Exchange throttling settings and monitored logs, but have not found cases where my test user is being throttled.  I have also looked at turning off IPv6 based on another post's suggestion; however, I have seen conflicting information about disabling IPv6 for Server 2012 R2, so I have not yet gone down this path.

The Exchange server is a VM on a new VMware host and has assigned 8 cores from Intel Xeon E5-2640 procs and 16GB RAM; 1TB thick provisioned database volume on a RAID 5 array with 6 x 10k RPM SAS drives.  Disk queues are low on the Exchange server (in the .20 to .70 range).  My test RDS server is on the same VMware host on the same vSwitch.  Another test system is on a different system, but exhibiting the same behavior.

Emails bounce back to a mailbox recently recreated

Hello all

I have an Outlook problem, but desperately need an Exchange solution. After recently upgrading to SP1 (Ex2K13), a very small number of people could not login to OWA (they would login, then get a blank page with the "auth.owa" url. Having searched all over the internet and trying everything I could find unsuccessfully, I ended up backing up, deleting and recreting these users. They have the same details and email address of course.

Internally, any emails sent to these people bounce back, because, of course, Outlook remembers the old user Id for the same address. I can solve this problem by clearing Outlook cache or editing nk2 file, which works fine, but I simply cannot do this for 140 people located all over the planet.

Is there any thing I can do server side and push it to people? This issue is driving people nuts and subsequently making my life miserable.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Best wishes

Nima

Outlook client requirements and Exchange 2010/2013 coexistence

$

Good morning!

A question regarding Exchange 2010/2013 coexistence and the Outlook client requirement. I am upgrading and about to install Exhange 2013 into an existing Exchange 2010 Org. The current 2010 Org is patched to SP-3 and Outlook Anywhere is currently disabled. I have Outlook clients that do not yet meet the minimun requirements for 2013 (Outlook 2007/2010). When I install my first 2013 server will it effect the current downlevel clients? The mailboxes are still in 2010 so my thoughts were since the Office upgrade including Outlook has not yet taken place I didn't want to wait for them to at least get 2013 into the Org. The 2013 server should effect the clients until I configure the CAS on 2013 and only when they are at the proper version, is this correct? Does Outlook Anywhere need to be first enabled and configured on the 2010 CAS before I attempt the confgiuration on the 2013 CAS? I just dont want to install 2013 and have Outlook connectivity issues right out of the gate...

Thanks in advance!

How to get Outlook to use the CAS in the client's site / location ?

Exchange 2013 SP1.
Two Locations (each one is an AD site).  WAN connection.

when we installed Exchange 2013 in Location-2, the Outlook 2013 clients connect to (Client Access Server) CAS-1  (The CAS at Location 1).   What is the most clear way to tell Outlook clients at location-2 to use the CAS at location-2 ?

No Load Balancer.

Very "simple" system  (from our viewpoint).
But now it looks like we need to change configuration in about 5 different areas to get it to work;  and we cannot seem to get the correct ones set.

have seen several articles...

this one  ( http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/8b6f5263-92c9-49cb-8db7-6c83054b8401/how-to-tell-outlook-whuch-cas-server-to-use?forum=exchange2010  )  is nice --- but it looks like that command does not work in Exchange 2013.

Outlook 2013 Deliver Messages to primary inbox

$

Hello,

I recently upgraded my customers server from SBS 2003 with Exchange 2003 to Server 2012 Standard with Exchange 2013. The office manager has full access to one of the users mailboxes and has in the past had added the mailbox and the changed where the mail was delivered. (ie. to her inbox). This way she didnt have to look in 2 different places. Well in Outlook 2013 there is no way to change where the mail is delivered to? This is a huge inconvenience to the office manager as she has missed several emails now because she has to look in 2 different places. Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks,

John

I have somewhat of an interesting problem that I've been attempting to solve for about a week now. First a little about our environment.

1:DC, 1:Exchange 2013, 1:Decommissioned Exchange 2013

After an upgrade from 2010 to 2013 we seem to be having some issues with remote connections to our exchange. The 2010 has been completely shutdown. We are able to access OWA remotely.
