Outlook 2010 disconnection from Exchange 2010

Hello

I'm getting in touch about an issue that is affecting a number of end users at the academic institution where I work. Outlook 2010 (appears to be) randomly disconnecting from our corporate Exchange 2010 mail server and asking for reauthentication via a dialog box requesting a username and password. Sometimes adding this login information does not make any difference and you have to force the application to shut down. There is one particular user (see below) who regularly disconnects every day, often around 10 minutes after logging in, who has been the main test subject for all our attempts to resolve this matter. He has a Dell Optiplex 780 Windows 7 32-Bit machine.

 Image

We have tried the following with him:

Removing settings from Credential Manager, changing Outlook proxy settings, Outlook profile reset, domain profile reset, a machine rebuild, using a different machine, os power settings, network adapter power settings, removing specific Active Directory policies, changing load balancer configuration, changing network point and ethernet cable.

I am at a loss for what could be the cause? These disconnections appear to have started after migrating from Exchange 2007 to v2010 late last year but this may just be coincidental. We have been informed by our central IT service that this is localised to our department but the evidence suggests otherwise. The user mentioned has had problems on machines not under our own supervision.

If anybody has any suggestions I'd be very grateful.

Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2013 RPC Max Connections Exceeded

We recently migrated from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. Our receptionist manages the calendars for our executives using Outlook 2010. She can send/receive email and modify her calendar without issue. Occasionally she receives an error message when attempting to update another user's calendar. "...Your server administrator has limited the number of connections you can open simultaneously...." Once Outlook 2010 is restarted the issue goes away for a while. Updating calendar's from OWA is performed without issue.

In troubleshooting I have added the registry key for "Maximum Allowed Sessions Per User = 320". With limited positive result.

Scheduling Assistant Shows Intermittent "No Information" when Adding Internal Users But Works after Re-Add

We are running Exchange 2013 in a period of co-existence with Exchange 2007.  This issue just started recently and does not happen consistently.  When you add users to scheduling assistant you often get "No Information" very randomly.

But if you uncheck and re-check "Send this Meeting to this Attendee" or remove/add the user several times, then the Free/Busy Information will populate again.

Originally I suspected this is an Outlook issue, but strangely it is happening within OWA as well.  So this is most likely a server issue.

After finding users cannot set  AutoReplies ie. out of the Office from Outlook error suggested Exchange Server is not online (but users can send receive emails and can set AutoReplies from OWA)

I decided to run Microsoft Connectivity analyzer - I get the following error

OWA Error :-( something went wrong

Hi I'm facing this problem since days now and I've spent a lot of time searching and troubleshooting with no luck.

  • DC: Windows Server 2012
  • Exchange: Exchange Server 2013 CU2 V2 (with its security updates), installed on Windows Server 2012.

Exchange Server / OWA was working fine after the installation and configuration for about two months and then this error occurred. Whenever going to https://ExchangeServer/owa it prompts you for the credentials and when logging in you'll get the error page":-( Something went wrong" error code 500. ECP is working fine, the problem is only with OWA.

Troubleshooting (with no luck),

  • Recreated ECP, OWA, EWS Virtual Directories, and resetted the Autodiscover virtual directory.
  • Created a new self signed certificate and use it with the exchange services.

When using "Test-WebServicesConnectivity" I'm getting Scenario EWS: GetFolder Failure. And in the Get-HealthReport OWA.Protocol alertValue showing "Degraded" and OWA alertValue "Uknown", EWS.Proxy and EWS alertValue "Degraded".

Please advice and thank you in advance.

Hello,

Our system runs exchange server 2013 c2v2 but our OWA clients can not log in owa because they get "OWA exceeded the maximum of" error.

"Mapi session /o=Albil Mail/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=esma.can with client type OWA exceeded the maximum of 400 objects of type Session."

I edited

Maximum Allowed Service Sessions Per User

Maximum Allowed Sessions Per User

keys to 400 object but users reach limit and they get error.

Please help.

Exchange 2010: Cannot get to OwA on some computers, sometimes.

Hi all.  This is for Exchange 2010 but when browsing to create a post via technet forums there si no 2010 options so I"m posting here instead.

We have a problem that seems to be very intermittent.  First I'll write the issue, then the little notes & tidbits that hopefully will help in figuring this out.  Basically I"m looking for any troubleshootin advice you can offer.

Issue:

Certain users, at random times, cannot get to the OWA web page at all.  There is no apparent pattern to this.  User A might have problems on a Monday for only an hour, then it's fine later, while User B is ok all along.  User B might have the same issue on another day, and so forth.

Notes:

- At any given time, if User A can't get on, I know the site and services are up because I can get to the OWA web page. from other locations or from other systems at the same location.

- the issue appears to be the computer and not the user, since if I log out of User A, and log in iwth User B on that computer, the problem remains.  And yet, that same user may not be able to get to OWA rom any computer so it almost seems user-specific as well - on this subject I"m not 100% determined yet.

- Does not appear to be DNS, since while it i shappening, I can do nslookup and get ot the rigth location.  Also, inputting the direct IP address of the internal server, while on the same subnet, also does not work

- I"m not an expert on IIS and Exchange logs, but i opened the daily logs for IIS and can't see any failures or errors (doesn't mean they aren't happening, but I see nothing on or around the timestamp of when I try)

- Windows even logs on the client system being tested with  (usually t he most recent system a user is at when unable to connect) and the event logs on the Exchange server have nothing at all carryingthe timestamp

- Problem has been happening for roughly 4 weeks. This only began after we did an exercise where I manually disabled a batch of users in AD one at a ttime, then re-enabled them 12 hours later.  This issue only affects those users it seems

- Today while testing, I tried opening Outlook from an affected worktsation to see what happens.  It tries to connect to Exchange but then prompts for a username/password.  I'm not sure if typo's are the issue but I put in the username/pw about 4 times, when it ifnally worked. and Outlook loaded the mailbox.  At that moment, I tried OWA, no change.

So I"m certainly lost on this one, and not sure where to look or what to try next.  Can anybody help?

Thank you.

One of my Exchange servers, #3, is Hub Transport and Client Access enabled.  Two days ago, after renewing an expired certificate, I received notice that no email was being delivered thru OWA or internally.  When I set up a test account, the InnerException message above was displayed.  My question is how do I reopen the transport stream?

Outlook 2010 Calendar Invited Reminders Not Showing the Correct Reminder Time

$

We are using Outlook 2010 with Exchange 2003 SP2.

The problem is that when creating an event in the calendar and sending the invite to a user, the reminder defaults to the receivers default reminder.  We are setting up events that have all different reminders based on the type of event.  Is there a way to make the reminder pick up the actual reminder that is set for each event?

Thank you for any ideas on this.

Owa password reset links

Hey guys,

So I've been trying to check if there are any password reset links that and end user with a Owa based mailbox account can reset his password ( and this is the Sci-fi part ) only with his username.

I've been hearing some rumors about this from other teams and high-up teams in my company that some users can use this specified link code and just be implementing their usernames. The server is a 2010 version.

And to top it off the this is a public logon, they can do this from home if needed.

It started from an e-mail going around with the link below then someone somehow found another way I guess.

https://webmaildomain.com/ecp/PersonalSettings/Password.aspx or similar ones ( older versions for the 2003 package based server ).

Can such a link exist?

Exchange 2013, Outlook allways asks for credentials

Hi all,

I have trouble with migrating to Exchange 2013 from 2007. All went well, after few minor issues everything is up and running but we have a very annoying popup asking for credentials every time a user opens Outlook.

It's happening with Outlook versions 2007, 2010 and 2013 (I haven't tested others). I tried with a combination of DOMAIN\Username, username@domain, emailaddress@domain and nothing works, when I press OK, the Login window reappears. Then I click Cancel and Outlook opens normally, but on the status bar I get "Needs Password". Everything works (I can send and receive mails, set OOF reply, set appointments...) but when I try to download OAB it prompts me for credential again. Then I put in the credentials in format DOMAIN\username and OAB gets downloaded and status changes to Connected to: Microsoft Exchange. From that point on everything works and it never prompt for credentials again until I close and restart Outlook.

Test-OutlookWebServices completes successfully and I can manually download oab.xml via browser (it requires me to log in first, though).

I noticed an interesting entry in Outlook connection status though. When I click Cancel on credentials prompt I get only 3 connections (all are referenced to my ExchangeGUID

But then, when I try to download OAB and enter the credentials I get this:

Maybe this 4th entry with GUID 0c4bc.... is problematic and causes authentication prompt. How can I find to which object this GUID belongs? I already checked all mailboxes and none has this GUID.

I would be very grateful if someone would shed some light as I already searched through the forums and tried many solutions for similar problems but was unable to find a solution.

If you need any more information I would gladly provide it.

Thank you very much,

Miha

Exchange 2007: cannot set Out of Office with Outlook 2013 (Outlook 2010 works fine on the same PC)

We have a Windows SBS 2008 (Exchange 2007) and all the workstations that haveOutlook 2013 cannot set the Out of Office message.  When trying to use the feature, they get a pop-up as"Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the screen is currently unavailable.  Try again later."  We have run the "Test Email AutoConfiguration" with Outlook 2013 open, and the results shows that the Autodiscover is successful.  I also tried this but applying to version 15.0 (I know it was for Outlook 2010, but wanted to give it a try),http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2596516/en-us.

So, it's the exact same symptoms with Article ID: 2596516, but applying to Outlook 2013.  It works fine on the same computer using Outlook 2010, and with Outlook Web Access, but it only doesn't work with Outlook 2013.  I have tested it with different using accounts, with the same results.  Exchange Server 2007 has the latest service packs and rollups.

Any settings that I should make on the server to enable Outlook 2013 to set Out of Office replies for Exchange Server 2007?

Thank you in advance!

Send As only works if not using Cached Exchange Mode

We currently run Exchange 2010 and are migrating users onto Outlook 2010 from 2007.

Our Client Services group has Full-Access and Send As permissions(as well as send on behalf) to clientservices@ourdomain.com; on 2007 there was never any problem. With Office 2010 they can send for about a day; that is immediately after the upgrade, or creating a new Outlook profile. They then start receiving Undeliverables stating they don't have permission to send on behalf of this user.

This has been an issue for about a month now, trying many different scenarios to fix the problem and the only one that seems to work is to uncheck Cached Exchange Mode. The issue is not present if using OWA either, this makes me think it's client side.

Thanks for any help,

-Wil

Is it possible to change settings so that e-mails downloaded by a POP client do not show up as being read?

$

We have users who download their e-mails onto their phones through POP3 from their exchange mailboxes. Once an e-mail is downloaded onto the phone, it shows up in their exchange configured outlook on their computer as having been read. Is it possible to change this so that those e-mails will NOT show as having been read until they are actually opened in outlook?

Running Inbox Rules Manually

$

Hi there,

I have a user who has created a large number of rules that are designed to sort emails into folders based on who the email was received from. The catch is that he does not want these messages sorted until after they have been read. I know that this can be achieved by creating the rules and selecting 'Run Rules Now...', then selecting which rules to run and whether to run them on Unread or Read messages. The user does this process every morning and it has (for the most part) been working as intended. The issue we have been experiencing, however, is that this process has been found to not move ALL read messages to the desired folders. The rules will file the majority of the emails correctly but leave some messages in the inbox regardless of what the rules are written to accomplish.

The rules are created client side in Outlook 2013.

Any insight here would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Evan
