External Outlook / Outlook for Mac clients taking too long to connect

Hi everyone!

My Exchange environment was working fine, but around a week ago, the external outlook 2013 / outlook for mac clients started experiencing difficulties connecting to exchange servers. Sometimes it takes up to 5 minutes for the client to connect. Internal clients are ok. I'm running Exchange Server 2013 SP1.

Everything was working fine before, but at some point this delay connecting to the servers started to happen.

I can't remember any configuration change before this, at least not in Exchange. The only change I can remember that was made to the environment was Server 2012 R2 regular updates.

I already checked auto discover configuration. I receive both internal and external urls. I also reconfigured the external URLs, including autodiscover virtual directories URLs  through ECP, but it didn't make any difference.

Checking the connection status on the outlook client, I can see that the client tries to connect to the internal servers addresses a lot before trying to reach the external servers URLs. I also checked the account configuration on the mac client, and I can see the addresses changing, from internal to external.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Rafael
