In Outlook 2010/Exchange 2010, when two users run a search at around the same time on a shared mailbox using "Advanced Find", the one of the user's search results either get appended or refreshed with the other user's search results if the other user happens to click on the "Find Now" button at least twice.
Example:
User1 uses Advanced Find to search for messages containing "ABCD" in SharedMBX. He clicks on the Find Now button and the search results are listed in the bottom pane of the Advanced Find window (let's say it yielded 2 results). While User1 has this window open with his current search results, User2 initiates her own Advanced Find for messages containing "1234" in SharedMBX. She clicks on the Find Now button and gets back 5 results.
At this point, both users are reviewing the results of their respective Advanced Find windows, when User1 decides to click on the Find Now button a second time (without changing any parameters). His results remain unchanged (the same 2 messages are listed) while User2's results are appended with User1's results right before her eyes (she now has 7 messages listed in the result pane).
When User1 kept clicking on the Find Now button, it kept appending the same messages to User2's results, until after multiple appends, it just completely refreshes User2's results with User1's results (2 messages containing "ABCD"). When User2 decides to click on the Find Now button a couple of times, she gets her results back (5 messages containing "1234"), and User1's results are either appended or overwritten with User2's results.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is it a bug?
Note: Access to the SharedMBX is via membership to a Universal Security Group (NOT mail-enabled) which has been granted Full Access and Send As permissions to the mailbox. And the following regkeys are set via GPO:
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Cached Mode
CacheOthersMail = 0
Enable = 1
