I switched over from hosted outlook exchange to MSoft 365. I am using a windows 8 machine. Yesterday I was able to successfully see my new 365 account from outlook 2013, but in the mid-afternoon it stopped updating the inbox. Online I can
see new email in the inbox. I can send mail. Yesterday I successfully imported my large backup with emails, calendar items, and contacts. They all seem to be working fine.
On the bottom, it says "updating inbox" but that never ends. When I click send/receive it starts but the bar never completes.Sometimes it says updating hierarchies.
I've been researching and just started outlook in safe mode. I am getting the same problems, however, when I click send/receive, the progress bar provides an time estimate -- the number started around 20 minutes and has been increasing. It tells me now it will be 2 hours to update.
There are maybe 50 emails queued up. None of them are large or have large attachments.
In other research, I have seen suggestions to Uncheck "When displaying hierarchy in Outlook, show only subscribed folders, but I cannot find IMAP folders. I have tried using all the suggestions in office help to find IMAP folders, but none of them work, including hitting ALT O then I.
I have a feeling the problem does involve an unsynchronized folder hierarchy, but this is just a gut feeling. I am not an IT person by training.
I am the admin.
Thanks!
