i am nearing the time in which i will perform a migration from SBS2008 to a standard server 2012 AD domain with exchange 2013.
in testing, i am trying to perform the scenario when member desktops remove their exchange account of the SBS2008 domain, and configure their new exchange account on the 2012 domain. each time i try to configure it on a desktop, i get an error such as "the exchange server is not available" when i click the button to resolve the user name (thats not the exact error, but its something along those lines).
desktops on both domains individually both have working autodiscover: SBS2008 domain members when they open outlook the first time, automatically find all their settings, and successfully configure their exchange account, and the same for the standard domain... no problems with autodiscover and configuration of a client that is using the exchange of its local domain.
the problem is only when i try to configure the exchange server of the other domain. it seems like this should be possible to configure the email account to come from whatever domain i want?
am i blind to something, or perhaps have i missed some configuration item that is critical?
