I am running Exchange Server 2003, have Outlook on two Windows 7 Home machines (a desktop and a laptop), and am attempting to set up different Favorites on the two machines. The PCs are intended to have some Favorites in common (both from local mailbox
folders and Exchange public folders) and some different.
When I set up Favorites on PC1 they do not show up on PC2. That is the expected behavior as Outlook appears to manage the collection of Favorites independently for different instances. But when I then add some of the SAME Favorites to PC2, they disappear when I restart Outlook on PC1. If I add them back on PC1, they disappear when I restart Outlook on PC2.
I have all the latest Service Packs and updates. I've tried "outlook /resetnavpane" on all machines, removed and re-added all the accounts, rebooted everything, and deleted and recreated all the profiles. But somehow the Favorites still seem to be tied together in a way that prevents PCs from having a common subset of Favorites. If I add them here, they disappear over there. Every time. Thoughts?
