Images embedded in email are missing after email is moved to pst folder

Following was an inquiry I posted to the MS Outlook community page and was directed to post it on this TechNet board.  The 1st message below was my initial inquiry, the 2nd was after I realized that moving into cached exchange mode fixed the issue.  However, the images in our archived folders are still missing.

If you have any suggestions on how to recover these images it would be much appreciated.

Please see messages below for more information - thank you.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All staff members in our office are experiencing this issue, so it is not a corrupt PST issue.

In short, when I receive an email (which has an embedded image), I usually move the message to a pst file (archive it for future reference).  HOWEVER, for the past few months I realized that when I go to reference these emails, the embedded image is missing.  The text is all accurate, but only the image is missing.

This is a big issue as now we are all sitting on these email messages that are useless as the identifying information is actually in the image ( for example, a list of new department ID's and their associated managers).

I am unable to control how to senders add this information to the email.  If the data is pasted as 'Keep Source Formatting' the image does not disappear after archiving ... it only disappears if it is pasted as a 'picture'.  Same holds true for images from the Snipping Tool in Windows 7.

Any suggestions on how (or if) we can get these images back, would be much appreciated !

I found this MS article: [unable to post link] ... email me and I can provide the URL confirming this issue.

And in fact, in Cached Exchange Mode the images are no longer being dropped from the email message after being moved to the pst folder.

HOWEVER, I am now sitting on a bunch of archived emails that are missing all the embedded images.

We need a solution on how to recover these embedded images.  The emails are useless for future reference.

Has any progress been made to address this issue ?  I am quite frustrated that I have lost all this pertinent data (embedded images).
