Outlook 2010 online clients hanging when connecting to Exchange 2010

Hi

Since around Friday last week we have noticed an issue whereby Outlook clients that use Online connections to Exchange take a long time to start, around 2-5 minutes.

Once started, they perform fine and behave as expected.

In Outlook Connection Status, one of the connections to Exchange is showing very high latency. One of the "Mail" connections on Port 43213 has an average latency of 7000. It is connecting to a DNS alias of our internal CAS server. If I ping this FQDN, it responds quickly.

We've tried rebooting, reinstalling office and creating new mail profiles, but the issue persists.

Offline clients in cached mode do not experience any problems. When I create a new cached profile, Outlook connects immediately and downloads the users mail without delay.

On one of the clients having the problem, I have connected Online to a mailbox in another country through a different CAS server, and there are no delays.

Regards

Nik
