I'm trying to setup my work email at home in Outlook 2010. When I put in my server name and username and click "Check Name"I get a message that says:
"The action cannot be completed. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action".
I've made sure my server name and user name is correct. The odd thing is that when I go through this setup at work the "Server Name" field is already filled out with random numbers and letter with a ".pvt" extension at the end of it. Does this mean it's a private server so it can't be connected to remotely?
Also, when I hit "File" in Outlook at work it says "Access this on the web at: webmail.[company name].com" This is what I'm putting as my server name at home and I get the error.
Does my company have it setup as a private server so it can't be accessed remotely or am I doing something wrong? I also cannot access the Outlook Web App at webmail.[company name.com/owa]. My IT guy is on vacation for the next 3 weeks so I can't get any help from him.
Thank you.
