I use a desktop PC and a Surface Pro 4 as my 2 main business machines. Many hangups I have in Outlook Exchange over a couple of "silly" things have caused me to allow my SP4 to collect dust and be wary to use it in the field to do anything in my database, thus killing my workflow as I am typically self relegating myself to operating off of my smartphone instead.
That said here is the description of the issue at hand:
Two devices have 2 different screen sizes and resolutions. A view on one IS NOT an optimal view on the other.
The worst offender in my daily experience is Contacts Views. I only wish to use the Category View so I can see a list of all contacts and expand all the most important columns I want to see on my display.
If I optimize this view on desktop PC (client A) to the edge of the display, it squishes the displayed view on SP4 (client B) the very next time the folder refreshes itself upon apparently syncing through the exchange server.
If I then optimize the same contact folder on client B to fix the display there, once client a refreshes, the column are so far expanded off the display it requires a hefty horizontal scroll bar to see everything as I wish.
This is a constant back and forth struggle and only one client's display can be the principal king here.
If I change View on one, the same occurs on the other as well, so it appears a "Save Current View As A New View" and creating "Category SP4" view and "Category PC" view is not a solution as whichever one is selected will simply get applied to the respective COntact folder on the other client.
My question is twofold:
A) why would Views, column widths etc be included in any sync across clients in the first place? Each client obviously requires a unique and customized view that is best suited to its own display? Data should sync obviously but not client specific settings!
B) What settings or actions can I take on my end to stop this madness so I can actually use my Contacts lists the way I see fit on multiple clients?
The irony is that its the SAME VIEW just with different column widths best suited for the SP4 display vs a PC monitor.
There HAS TO BE an easy workaround I have failed to conceive all these years, right?!?
Please help, and thank you for the help!
